Description
Coming May 21st – “Broken Skull Opera” marks the triumphant return of 90s-era Grindcore, Death, and Black Metal with a sound that echoes the brutality of Repulsion, Asphyx, and Impaled Nazarene. Fans of early underground metal will relish in the raw, unfiltered aggression and intensity of Then We Died.
The band’s debut album is a savage blend of grinding riffs, bone-shattering drums, and guttural vocals, paying homage to the spirit of 90s extreme metal. Hailing from Louisville, Kentucky, Then We Died boasts an all-star lineup of metal veterans: Stevo from the legendary band Impetigo, who brings his monstrous vocal intensity to the forefront. Mike May (bass) and Jim Higgins (drums) from Abominant, contribute their powerhouse sound, combining brutal basslines with crushing percussion. Jerry Barksdale (guitar), a multi-genre musician with roots in electro/industrial and death/black metal, rounds out the lineup with a fresh and dynamic approach to the genre.
Fans of extreme metal can expect an onslaught of relentless energy from start to finish, with each track delivering the kind of ferocity that defined the genre’s heyday. Then We Died captures the essence of old-school grindcore, death, and black metal, while incorporating modern elements that make this release essential listening for metalheads everywhere.
