Old Corpse Road have carved their name into the UK black metal scene by producing classic, yet unique British black metal. Their debut album sees the band building on the foundations set by both their demo and the split release with the Meads of Asphodel.
‘Tis Witching Hour sees Old Corpse Road taking you by the hand on a journey through Britain’s haunted past.
Throughout the album the band uses their music and lyrics to tell British folk tales of witchcraft and otherworldly spirits such as ghosts, phantoms and banshees. In order to achieve this the band employ various musical stylings which give rise to unusual but enthralling musical structures and thus their songs move the listener through a wide range of emotions and atmospheres.
Dynamically the music flows from fierce black metal through to powerful melodic passages and onto serene yet haunting moments. The band incorporate a wide range of vocals from traditional black metal shrieks, guttural lows, spoken word passages, epic folk singing and Gregorian style chants.
Old Corpse Road bind these elements together to produce a solid yet original take on the black metal sound.
