Description
Their original band name during the very early days was Cadaverous Smell, then Minas Morgul. However, since they were all lovers of J.R.R. Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings”, they chose the name Morgoth (after the nickname of Melkor, the renegade, and evil Ainu, “the great enemy”) for their band in 1987. The band split up in 1998, but reunited in 2010.
“Cursed” was released in 1991 and to promote the album the band supported Kreator and Biohazard on a US tour and another European tour with Immolation and Massacre. In May 2018, the band announced that they would go on hold following their performance at the Chronical Moshers Open Air on June 8th, 2018. On December 17th, 2020, via the band’s Facebook page, Morgoth announced that they were splitting up for good.
