Biography
SOOTHSAYER are a legendary Canadian old-school thrash metal band hailing from Quebec City. Formed in 1985, they’ve been delivering raw, no-holds-barred thrash since the golden era of the genre.
Armed with their infamous first demo To Be a Real Terrorist (1986), the band quickly made their mark with aggressive riffs, pounding rhythms, and a crossover edge that blended Bay Area speed with punk attitude. Tracks like “Death Radiation,” “Troops of Hate,” and “Kill Oppression” captured the pure underground fury of the time and remain cult classics among die-hard thrashers.
With their classic album Have a Good Time and a string of raw releases, SOOTHSAYER helped define the Canadian thrash sound of the late ’80s. After a hiatus, the original lineup (still featuring members from that very first demo) reunited in 2007 and has continued to spread the gospel of old-school thrash ever since.
Now, after decades of chaos and multiple “chapters” of destruction, the prophets of punishment return with their highly anticipated new album, Chapter IV, coming soon on CDN Records. Expect the same savage riffs, lightning solos, and venomous attitude that have kept SOOTHSAYER true to the underground spirit for over 40 years.
They don’t chase trends, they exhume the old gods of thrash and make them bleed louder than ever.
