A quote about the release by Cam from The Growl:
The live tracks were recorded 1993 at Uncle Sams on Lundys Lane in Niagara Falls Canada beside The Sundowner.
It was the first Niagara Falls Deathfest put on by Cannibal Cam featuring MANGLED (Cannibal Cam’s band – Niagara Falls), GASTRIC PUS (Toronto), GROTESQUE INFECTION (Niagara Falls NY), DAMONACY (New Jersey), MACIFICATION, (Ingersol Ontario), NAILED (Oshawa) and INBRED (Oshawa).
GROTESQUE INFECTION was originally turned away because they were carrying their equipment, bringing it over the border. Well, 20 minutes later Russ gets into another vehicle with his bass and gets over the 2nd time.
The first time witnessing GROTESQUE INFECTION over in Niagara Falls New York was at this little dive right on Niagara Street, which has since closed down, entitled The Cocktail Zone. Myself and band mate Dan caught wind of this show from a local record shop called Cavages at the Summit Park Mall, where we used to by all our stuff. Home of the Hits was also the place to be, but Cavages was closer. A dude there used to put out flyers and such for local shows and I’m pretty sure it was the same dude who got CANNIBAL CORPSE their break. We were pissed because we had just missed GORAPHOBIA play with GI a couple months prior so we made sure we attended this show.
Anyways we walked over because it was literally a 5 minute walk from the border. Two bands where playing that night, INFESTATION and GI. We pay our $3 cover charge and pack our way into this tiny room at the back of this lounge. The band start playing and Dan and I take a step back and let this pit just go wide open. There was literally no room for anyone but that didn’t stop everyone from getting into it and tearing the place apart. I just remember being a newbie to the scene and seeing these massive dudes just smashing our faces in with this indestructible noise. Life changing night for myself.
