In May 2009, Mattia Baldoni (guitar) and Paolo Pontiggia (bass) decided to start a band dedicated to pure European and British Heavy Metal and by 2010, the line-up was complete with Dani Francesco Valentini (vocals) and Rosario Alcaro (drums).
Soon after, Ruler started recording for their first full-length ‘Evil Nightmares’. Between 2012 and 2014, Ruler were very active on the live scene, playing all around Europe in festivals such as: Up The Hammers (Greece), Brofest (UK), Heavy Metal Maniacs (Netherlands), Heavy Metal Espectros (Spain), Power & Glory (UK), Headbangers Open Air and Metalheadz Open Air (Germany), as well as several shows in Spain, UK, Belgium, Germany and Austriaincluding a tour supporting Ostrogoth. Ruler have also had the honor of playing three highly esteemed Italian festivals: Heavy Metal Night, Play It Loud and Italian Play It Loud, as well as supporting legends like Tygers of Pan Tang, Vicious Rumors, Helstar, Weapon, Nifelheim, Vulcano, Tank, Angel Witch, Girlschool, Battleaxe and Attacker.
In October 2013, they released their 2nd full length album titled ‘Rise to Power’, under MGP. Later that year, Paolo Pontiggia left the band with his spot being filled by new bassist Mirko Negrino, who previously played in the thrash metal band Endovein. 2015 saw Ruler playing several gigs, as part of a mini-tour in Spain, the UK, Switzerland, Germany and Belgium; proving themselves as a fine, live war machine and gaining a loyal following in the European underground. By Autumn 2015, drummer Rosario Alcaro quit the band and was then replaced by current drummer Steve Bianco (Ex Endovein and member of Ape Unit and Failure).
With this new, strong line-up, Ruler hit the stage again together with bands like Air Raid, Sin Starlett, Ancillotti, Leather Hart, Tank and Demon before entering the studio and starting working on their new record: “Descent into Hades”.
